Hugo Rodallega Breaks Goal Scoring Record

Wigan Athletic may have won 3-1 at Blackpool on Saturday to claim the three points and the win bonus, but for one Latics player the rewards were a little more specific and special.

On scoring the opening goal of the game Latics Colombian hitman Hugo Rodallega claimed top spot in the Latics scoring charts for Premier League goals.

The record, prior to Hugo taking it, was held by Henri Camara who plundered 20 league goals before leaving for pastures new at the end of the 2008/09 season.

Since scoring the record equalling goal on February 5th against Blackburn it has appeared that claiming the outright title has been bearing heavily on Hugo, he appeared anxious on the occasions when he has had opportunities but not on Saturday.

At 3:02 and 30 seconds, with cool aplomb, our illustrious record goal scorer, calmly side footed through the legs of Blackpool keeper Matt Gilks to give the Latics an early lead in a highly charged game and become the clubs all time Premier League leading goal scorer.

Nice one Hugo, congratulations and lets see how many you can add to that total before this seasons out.
