'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Charlie Say's '...a game we have to win'

Wigan Athletic star man Charles N`Zogbia is ready face Sunderland and former Latics boss Steve Bruce on Saturday and he reckons now just might be a good time to play the Black Cats.

Bruce signed Charlie from Newcastle back in January 2009 and the France international says he has respect for him, but it is under current Latics boss Roberto Martinez that N`Zogbia has really flourished, given freedom to express himself on the pitch he has been a joy to watch this season.

With Sunderland in the midst of a dramatic slump that has seen them take just one point from nine games, a resurgent Latics are possibly the last team that Bruce wants to be facing.

Speaking about the upcoming Sunderland game N`Zogbia said: "I haven`t followed their results so I don`t know if it is a surprise to hear they are struggling. But we must regard it as a game we have to win.

"Maybe before it was hard to play against Sunderland, but now this is a good time to play them.

"Bruce was the manager who brought me to Wigan, but this game is no different - every game is special to me. I have respect for him, but in a game you forget everything except trying to win."

A win for the Latics on Saturday would put them within one point of Sunderland, now there`s a story waiting to be written
