'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ben Watson - 'Another Must Win Game'

Wigan Athletic midfield man Ben Watson has been talking about the belief that`s in the squad, the belief that they take into games knowing that they can win.

With another big game coming up this weekend it is important that the Latics keep the confidence high, they go to Sunderland looking for the three points that will ease the threat of relegation just that little bit more and Watson say`s 'it's another must-win game`.

The 25 year old former Crystal Palace player has been in excellent form of late, playing the anchor man in the middle of the park appears to suit Watson and he goes about his game with a lot of maturity and discipline. Last Saturday he kept the much raved about Charlie Adam quiet and he has forged a great partnership with James McCarthy, Watson though puts all this down to the belief that boss Roberto Martinez has instilled in the squad.

Speaking to the clubs official website Watson said: 'This weekend is as big as the last, if we beat Sunderland we go one point behind them and as far as we're concerned it's another must-win game that we'll approach with confidence.

'They haven't had the results they're capable of recently but they're a dangerous side and if we continue our form it'll make for a very entertaining game.

'Right now we're playing football better than we ever have done before as a group, and if we take that belief to the Stadium of Light it'll serve us very well.'

'A lot has changed since the start of the season but more than anything we've got that belief in us now, something the Gaffer has drilled into us - to believe that we are a top side, and it's rubbed off. We believe we're going to go into games and win"

'We took that into the Blackpool game and got the result we knew we would get, and to come into training on Monday in 17th rather than 20th is the best feeling in the world.

'Everyone's on a high and, with five games to go, we're looking forward to continuing that form until the end of the season to make sure we achieve what we set out to.'

Ben Watson has been excellent of late
worbo
correct worbo he has. I have slagged him off in the past but the last 6 or so games in his new role he has been fantastic. We still need someone else to take the set pieces but one step at a time eh! :)
