Former Latics Boss Allan Brown Passes Away
Former Latics boss Allan Brown sadly passed away yesterday, Wednesday 20/04/2011, aged 84.
Taking charge of the Latics as player-manager in 1964 Brown found immediate success winning the Cheshire League title in his first season and the club also went on an amazing 52 game unbeaten run, he left the Latics at the end of the 1965/66 season to take over the managerial reins at Luton where he had enjoyed FA cup success as a player.
Allan Brown a successful managerial career at:
Wigan Athletic, Luton Town, Torquay United, Bury, Nottingham Forest and Blackpool.
As a player Allan appeared for:
East Fife, Blackpool, Luton Town, Portsmouth Wigan Athletic and he represented Scotland on 13 occasions.
Latics fan and Vital Wigan member Zakky recalls the Cheshire League title win: "Allan was at Latics in the sixties and assembled a cracking team and I remember carrying him off on my shoulders at Mossley after we had clinched the Cheshire League title.
