Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has pleaded with the Latics fans to turn out in force for tomorrows home encounter against Everton, a game that the Latics really need to win.
In an interview with the Manchester Evening News, Whelan says that the league is as tight as it`s ever been down at the bottom end of the table and there is nothing to choose between the teams who are currently in the last six places
A win against Everton could prove vital to the Latics chances of survival Whelan sees it has a massive game and he is urging the local folk to come out in their numbers for this one.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News Whelan said: "I am really appealing to the local people to turn out in force and get behind us because this is a massive game and a crucial stage of the season. We have played some really good football this season and we just need a few things to go for us, maybe a little luck but you make your own luck.
"Having said that, a good start and some strong play will be vital, it always is.
"I have never known a season like this because all the clubs who are in the bottom six have played some terrific football and have a lot of quality in their ranks.
"It is just so tight down at the bottom of the table with nothing to choose between the teams. But I predicted this very early on in the year.
"This is possibly one of the toughest, tightest and most competitive Premier Leagues there has been for some time."
