Matt Le Tissier Says Latics Can Beat The Drop

Sky Sports Soccer Saturday pundit Matt Le Tissier reckons that Wigan Athletic have given themselves a decent chance of survival and looked good in yesterdays 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

Speaking to the shows anchor man Jeff Stelling, Le Tiss says that although there may be a few twists and turns the Latics have enough to beat the drop.

Speaking on Sky TV, Le Tiss said: "Wigan were pretty good, especially the first 65/70 minutes.

"They started the game well, deserved the lead just didn't keep it long enough, they conceded the equaliser too soon."

"But I thought they showed great character today, Al-Habsi will be disappointed with the goal, but he made up for it with a couple of great saves, especially Darren Bents one on one"

"There are certainly things there for Roberto Martinez to believe that his side can stay up"

"They played some good football, they had five in midfield but they were joining up with Rodallega, always plenty of bodies in and around the Aston Villa penalty area"

"It's still difficult to call and there will be a few more twists and turns before May 22nd but they've given themselves a decent chance of survival"
