Lawro Predicts - Latics v West Ham




Former Liverpool defender and current Match of the Day pundit Mark 'Lawro` Lawrenson has done his weekly round of predictions for the BBC and he is predicting that Sunday`s Premier League clash between Wigan Athletic and West Ham United at the DW Stadium will end in a home win for the Latics, let`s see what his predictable reasons are:

Wigan v West Ham

West Ham just worry me - I think they waved the white flag last week when their owners David Gold and David Sullivan started talking about what relegation would mean for the club. They might find out this weekend.

I am going to go for Wigan to beat the Hammers and send them down in the process. It would mean the Latics live to fight until the last day of the season but it would obviously be the end of the road for West Ham, and in many ways it would serve them right.

Gold and Sullivan have already spoken about who would be leaving the club - all their England internationals like Scott Parker and Rob Green - but relegation might not necessarily be the end of the world, although it depends on how they react to it. It means they can make a fresh start, but the important thing for any team's finances is getting back into the top flight within a couple of years.

Prediction: 2-0

Isn't that always the way with Lawrenson and Linaker. The only reason they mention Latics is to include them as an afterthought to what they consider the important issue of the day and that is that West Ham are likely to go down. Oh by the way don't worry as this is just a postponement of the inevitable of Latics going with them on the last day. He is fast becoming this seasons Andy Grey for me.
