Roberto Martinez Set For New Wigan Athletic Deal?

The Daily Mail are reporting that Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has been offered a contract extension at the club after the Latics secured Premier League football for a seventh successive season on Sunday.

Martinez is entering the final year of his current deal and if the Mails reports are accurate then it appears that Latics owner Dave Whelan is looking to reward his manager for a great finish to the season with an improved contract.

Sunday saw the Latics win 1-0 at Stoke in a game of high drama with so much at stake, once the final whistle blew and safety was assured Whelan was interviewed by Sky Sports and he said that Martinez is the best manager that he has worked with during his time in football.

The club haven`t released any details of a new deal so it may be just conjecture from the Mail, if it is then Whelan needs to act fast and get one of the brightest young managers in European football tied down to the club for the foreseeable future.

35000/wk with an inflation boosting 3.4% would give him 36190/wk, but I have a sneaking feeling minimum wages and inflation proof rises only apply to the plebs of this world.
