Emmerson Boyce Man of the Match v Stoke

Emmerson Boyce has been voted the Wigan Athletic man of the match in last Sundays dramatic final day win at Stoke, the win helped to keep the Latics Premier League dream alive and kicking for a seventh successive season.

Boycey had a fantastic game in the defence, he also supported the attack when necessary, but the defining moment of the game came mid-way through the first half when Stoke striker Kenwyne Jones coolly side-footed towards the Latics goal, with Ali Al-Habsi beaten the travelling fans held their breath as it looked a certain goal, Boycey had other ideas and made a tremendous clearance to keep the scoreline at 0-0, we know the rest.

Emmerson Boyce is a real asset to the club and of the 22 games that he has played in this season the Latics have gained 28 points, says it all really.

For the record the voting was:

Emmerson Boyce - 58%

Ali Al-Habsi - 18%
