Lawro Predicts - The End Of Season Table

Lawro Predicts - The End Of Season Table

During the 2010/11 football season Mark 'Lawro` Lawrenson did his weekly rounds of predictions for the BBC, predicting the results of games involving sides in the Barclays Premier League, all a bit of fun you might say.

Well if its all 'a bit of fun` how come that I have got so riled by it all?

Wigan Athletic have been continually written off since gaining promotion to the Premier League, but this season it seems have been worse than ever and leading the charge against the Latics has been Mark Lawrenson.

Some of his comments about the Latics have suggested that he hasn`t seen us play and the only glimpse of Roberto Martinez`s side he has had would appear to be the 2 minutes exposure on Match of the Day every weekend.

Most weeks during his predictions, Lawro would ramble on about the quality of the Latics opponents without a word on our boys apart from his customary "the only thing consistent about Wigan is their inconsistency", well his bias against the Latics and his lack of knowledge of the club, players and manager have definitely shown through.

Lawro`s season long predictions on the Latics had us finishing bottom of the Premier League on a measly 20 points, that`s 22 points less that we actually gained and a goal difference of -41, the Preston born, PNE supporting, ex-Liverpool player also had Blackburn relegated accumulating just 30 points, but in fairness to him he did have Blackpool down as well, hmm, hang on a minute, Wigan, Blackpool and Blackburn, aren`t they considered Preston North Ends main rivals? Well we all were once, a spot of jealousy there maybe?

Any way back to the Latics and our clubs final position and points total surely show that he doesn`t know what he`s talking about, to confirm this his predictions had Wolves finishing in 9th, Liverpool amassing 14 points more than they actually did and Arsenal 15 more points than they finished with, talk about favourites.

The fantastic website myfootballfacts.com have totted up all Lawros predictions and put them into a league table to compare against the actual real Premier League table:

Very interesting, I wonder if he`ll have us struggling again next season and continue with his flippant comments? I should imagine so.

Wolves 9th? Just shows he puts a little bit of bias in his predictions!
