With the season ending less than a week ago transfer speculation, as usual, has started to come thick and fast, just a quick look at what I`ve seen and heard this past week sees the Latics linked to three Championship midfield players, Charles N`Zogbia linked with just about everyone and will we, wont we sign Ali Al-Habsi on a permanent deal from Bolton, lets take a quick look at what`s been rumoured:
Ali Al-Habsi - according to some reports we have already made an opening bid to Bolton Wanderers for our player of the season, listening to Martinez speak on Tuesday afternoon about Ali I would say that this is true, though the reported £2 million offered may or may not be.
Charles N`Zogbia - there have been reports this past week linking Charlie with the big boys, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Manchester United and also some smaller clubs Aston Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle, the Daily Mail claim that Newcastle have actually made a £5 million bid for the France international, seeing as we rejected a £12 million bid from them in January shows why they aren`t really serious, you`re supposed to up your bid not reduce it!
Roberto Martinez says that the Latics have contacted Charlie`s representatives with a view to extending his contract but he is unsure if he will stay, but if he does go it will be on our terms, so stick your £5 mil Pardew.
Paul Anderson - Nottingham Forest winger Paul Anderson is supposedly attracting the interest of Martinez, the former Liverpool youth player is already known to the Latics boss having played on loan at Swansea during Martinez`s time there and with Forest losing out in the play-offs Anderson could be available.
Liam Trotter - Millwall midfield man Trotter has enjoyed a good season in the Championship with the London club and his form this season has alerted Premier League clubs including the Latics, the 22 year old started his career at home town club Ipswich before moving to Millwall in July 2010.
Bradley Johnson - The Leeds United midfield man is a free agent after failing to agree a new deal at Elland Road and this has alerted a posse of Premier League clubs with the Latics leading the chase ahead of West Brom, Stoke and Bolton. It was rumoured that Roberto Martinez made an approach for Johnson in the January window but now he can have his man for nothing.![]()
