Ali Al-Habsi The First In?

Wigan Athletic could be set to make their first signing of the summer this week, but it will be a familiar face that will be putting pen to paper as Roberto Martinez looks set to seal the capture of keeper Ali Al-Habsi from Bolton Wanderers.

Latics chairman Dave Whelan has backed the decision by boss Roberto Martinez to stay at the DW Stadium by sanctioning a 4 million deal for Al-Habsi, who spent a successful season on loan at Wigan claiming the player of the season award for 2010/11.

Bolton have rejected two previous bids from the Latics for Al-Habsi, but the latest of 4 million plus add-ons looks to have clinched the deal and the Oman international could be a Wigan Athletic player by next weekend when he returns to the UK from the Gulf where he is currently visiting family.

That said plus add on's will most likely end up at the 5 million Bolton wanted in the first place.
