Aston Villa Make A Move For Charles N'Zogbia

Vital Wigan understands that Aston Villa have made an official bid to the Latics for attacking midfield man Charles N'Zogbia.

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan confirmed last week that there had been a lot of 'interest' in Charlie from Premier League clubs but no firm bids, now that Villa have sold Ashley Young to Manchester United it appears that the cash received has started to burn a hole in Alex McLeish's pockets.

It is the second time in a year that McLeish has made a move to sign the France international, last August Birmingham City had a £9 million bid accepted by the Latics but Charlie decided that he wanted to stay at the DW Stadium and turned the move down, but with just a year remaining on his current deal both Whelan and manager Roberto Martinez have indicated that N'Zogbia will be sold.

The 25 year old was in scintillating form at the end of last season scoring five goals in the last six games and playing a major part as the Latics secured Premier League status for a seventh consecutive season.

Not worth the reported 15 million, mind you the transfer market is shot to bits with all these ridiculous evaluations of players. 10 million at best. Up the Villa!

Where did you get 15 from Timmy?? It's 9-10. Still think that he would be worth 15.

i'd pay up to around 11-12million i think at most, with him being on he last year of his contract. i'd love to have N'Zogbia at Villa!!

Charlie is a class player, watching him week in week out you get to see that he performs on a regular basis, he works hard for the team, he provides for other players and scores himself, 9 goals from the wing for a side that struggled to score all season is testement to that. Normally he would be worth well over £15 mil, but with just a year on his contract left I can see him going for £10 and that would be a bargain, believe me.

N'Zogbia wouldnt look out of place playing for any team in the world. He is World Class. Whoever buys him, whether it be 9, 10 or 15 million, are getting one of the biggest bargains the premier league has ever seen.

I think we will agree a 12 milli fee rising to 14 or 15... we at villa are quite scabby and I cant see us agreeing the full 15 outright...

Latics v Wolves - Big Game Preview

There is a little bit of pressure starting to mount down at the Latics, no win in seven games and sitting bottom of the pile, the sooner we can get a three points haul in the bag the better.

Gary Caldwell felt that his team were unlucky not to win the game at Preston on Friday never mind lose it, a wickedly deflected effort early on followed by some resolute defending kept the Latics at bay, but a failure to take two excellent chances was the downfall as we lost by the odd goal for the 7t
