Steven Caldwell Hoping For Another Latics Deal

Wigan Athletic defender Steven Caldwell is hoping for an extension on his deal at the Latics which is set to run out next week.

Caldwell, the brother of Latics skipper Gary, came to the club on a season long deal last August after he was released by Burnley, he made 15 appearances, 10 in the Premier League, though his position was definitely a squad man, he did provide cover when injury and suspension hit the team, giving 100% and his effort never let the side down.

Now the 30 year old is hoping that Latics boss Roberto Martinez will offer him another deal even though he has appeared on the Latics released list.

Caldwell said: 'I'm basically a free agent as I don't know what's going to happen with Wigan"

'I was under the impression there was the possibility of staying for another year if I wanted.

'But no matter what happens, I most definitely enjoyed the opportunity I had there.'

Depends what he's willing to take, salary wise. If he was exceedingly cheap then I don't see why not. Gohouri should be moulded into a fullback imo as it's his best position.
