Latics and West Brom in Arca Link

Wigan Athletic along with Premier League rivals West Brom, are being linked to Argentine midfield man Julio Arca who is currently a free agent after failing to agree terms on a new deal at Middlesbrough.

The left footed player is quite versatile and can play across the midfield as well as left back, indeed he started his career off as a left back before being converted to the midfield when he joined Sunderland from Argentinos Juniors.

Arca left Sunderland for Middlesbrough in 2006 after spending 5 years at the Stadium of Light and now the 30 year old is looking for a move back to the Premier League, he failed to return to Boro for preseason training leaving manager Tony Mowbray disappointed.

Mowbray said: 'We don't go to the salary level he was at anymore and it is a disappointment for me because he is a very, very talented boy.'
