Mauro Boselli Close To Re-Joining Estudiantes

It appears that Wigan Athletic forward Mauro Boselli could be set for a return to Argentina and his former club Estudiantes after the player revealed that discussions had begun between the two clubs.

Boselli cost the Latics £6 million last summer but has never settled at the DW Stadium, failing to score in his eight Premier League appearances, he was allowed out on loan to Serie A side Genoa in January and now he wants a return home.

Speaking on Fox Radio Del Pato, Boselli said that Estudiantes had to "come to terms with Wigan" and his representative was speaking with both clubs, he said 'the priority is to return to Argentina's Estudiantes'

Boselli also confirmed that his representatives had spoken with Boca Juniors but confirmed 'there is nothing more than that' but he revealed that he is desperate to return home for his wife and friends, Boselli continued: 'the idea at first was to stay in Europe, but when I took my vacation I talked to my wife, friends and my agent and decided it was best to return'

The Latics wanted Boselli to stay at the DW Stadium and Martinez saw a future for Boselli in England but the Argentine said: 'The coach told me he wanted me for the next season, but I expressed my desire to return to my country'

Boselli has spoken with Estudiantes coach Miguel Angel Russo, confirming this as another reason that influenced the decision of wanting to return to La Plata. 'It's all very advanced, just the final details missing from my contract and agreement with the English club, but for myself and Estudiantes is the willingness and the desire to get this done.'
