McCarthy To Blackburn? You Must Be Joking

It`s being reported that Wigan Athletic have rejected a £9million bid from Blackburn Rovers for £25 million rated 20 year old midfield man James McCarthy.

The Sun claim that Rovers boss Steve Keen submitted the bid but it was laughed off by his Latics counterpart Roberto Martinez, McCarthy to Blackburn for £9 million is one of the most ridiculous pieces of speculation to come out so far this summer.

McCarthy is destined for great things in the game, if he does move from the Latics it will be to a club with title ambitions and for a lot more cash than what Blackburn have reportedly put forward. There are suggestions that the Latics are actual looking to give the Republic of Ireland an extension to his remaining three years at the DW Stadium with a significant pay rise to elevate him to one of the clubs top earners.

The boy is going nowhere

25 million rated? HA!!! What planet are you on? Wesley Sneijder valued at £30 million to Man United, Fabregas £35 million to Barcelona.. £25 million for McCarthy?? Having a laugh! Worth anything from 8 million to 12 million.

You'll not get him. Jordan Henderson £20 mil McCarthy is much better so on that £25 mil is correct

Jordan Henderson = English and therefore = overpriced.

Agreed with rover23. If James McCarthy was English he'd be going for £20m-£25m. If he was from Argentina or somewhere like that he'd be going for around £12m-£15m. If he was Scottish he'd be going for around £8m. He's Irish so he'll be going for about the same. £8m-£12m. £25m is a laughable demand you will never get that for him. Hey if he's worth £25m you can have Keith Andrews off us in exchange plus £6m Also don't delude yourself into thinking Rovers wouldn't be a step up for him. Bigger club, bigger history, bigger fanbase, higher attendances and more prospects for the future other then relegation fights year in year out. The futures bright. The future is blue and white.

'£25million is a laughable demand that we will never get' That's fine with us, means he won't leave... Now p*ss off :)

£25m?? Come on seriously... I'm sure he's a decent player but that's a bit over the top. Not even sure the story of us bidding is true but if we or another PL club had bid around £10m i would put good money on him leaving as Dave Whelan has already stressed that Wigan need to sell to re-invest and you're only realistically going to make a profit on McCarthy, N'Zogbia and Rodallega IMO.

Correct me if i'm wrong. But we finished a place higher then Wigan last season. We have a ton of money to spend improving the team and Wigan have zipp pretty much. So who's more likely to be relegated. I know who my money is on.

Wonder who McCarthy would rather play for.. 16,000 fans and a constant relegation fight with no ambitions of going places, or 26,000 fans, for a club that has £30 million+ to spend and who are pushing for Europe..

Blackburn will be one of the favourites for relegation, with the boardroom puppet, Keen, well out of his depth.

I think he would be a good signing for us and i think it would be a very good place for him to improve alongside the likes of Hoilett, Olsson, Rochina, Formica, N'Zonzi, Hanley etc. Still can't see the fee being anymore than £10m though.

Tombo1984 As for the accusation of Racism..simply unfounded. Can you see this being a genuine bid and not paper talk, because I can't it's a derisory offer, and to be fair the quoted price is also taking the P just as much. You got one thing right though the future is Blue and white, you just the fact that it's stripes not quarters. Rover23 - Pushing for Europe ..... have you booked a ferry or something ? You'll be in the same dogfight as the rest of us, but It is that time of the season where we all get optomistic, before reality strikes once the season kicks off

LMAO! Blackburn a step up than Wigan!?!? Im a United fan and must say that any player with any sense would rather play for Wigan than Blackburn! A bunch of Chicken Farmers sending the team into the championship! N pushing for europe my arse! You finished like 15th didnt you? didnt realise we had 14 european spots in the premier league now! All in all, Blackburn fans should come back to reality and realise that there best players are all leaving and theres a reason for that. And for the money theyve been oh so famously promised.... Who've they bought again? Ronaldo? Messi? Rooney? Nope. Rumoured to be getting Benjani? Yep. Stupid Blackburn people. Might win the championship in 2 years tho :)

Ok lets look at the facts then Mr Intelligent. Blackburn have by far the worst manager in the league, possibly the country. Blackburn play awful football. Hit and hope. Blackburn have over-expecting fans who watch there team fail week in week out. Blackburns best players all want out. No player wants to join blackburn because of how uninspiring the manager is. Blackburn have owners that dont have a clue about owning a football club. Blackburn are the new West Ham. Blackburn have an old dreary team anyway. Blackburn are heading for the championship. No one really likes Blackburn. There just an annoying little team that think they're bigger than they are and they contribute nothing to the premier league. Happy now Einstein?

@Tombo1984 > Don't put words into my post then call me a racist, especially when you've got to be making stereotped assumptions about my country of origin, to even make that accusation. Every club is linked with the business of their owners, United put up with people commenting on US sports linking the glazers other interests with united. People comment on us for pies, and people comment on the porn industry with gold and sullivan. It is not a racist comment.
