Daniel de Ridder Joins Grasshopper Club

Former Wigan Athletic player Daniel de Ridder has joined Swiss side Grasshopper Club of Zurich on a 2 year deal.

De Ridder was brought to the Latics by Steve Bruce in June 2008 on a free transfer from Birmingham City, but he failed to make an impact during the next three seasons making just 18 appearances, he spent the second half of the 2009/10 season on loan at Hapoel Tel Aviv where he scored two goals in eleven appearances.

The former Netherlands under 21 international appeared to have great potential to make a name for himself at the Latics, unfortunately for both club and player that potential was never realised.

De Ridders contract with the Latics expired on the 1st of July and the club subsequently released him.

Vital Wigan wishes Daniel de Ridder all the best at his new club
