Whelan Wants N'Zogbia Stay




Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan has stated that the Latics are desperate to get star man Charles N'Zogbia tied down to another contract at the club

With N'Zogbia entering the last year of his contract, Whelan feels that the Latics maybe powerless to keep the France international, a player of his class is going to attract offers from other clubs and Wigan would have to meet or be close to meeting the offers that he could earn away from the DW Stadium if indeed they were to keep hold of their talisman.

Speaking to Talk Sport Whelan re-iterated Latics desire for N'Zogbia to stay but also said that they may have no choice but to allow him to leave.

Whelan said: "We would love to sit down with Charles and extend his contract and keep him here, thats what we want to do.

"We have to sell Charles N`Zogbia because he's on the last year of his contract. We can't keep him if a big club comes for him and he does deserve a big club because he's that kind of quality player.

"We would love to keep him and pay him what he wants to stay with us but it's a very difficult situation.

"He's such a great player and we are such a small club sometimes we don`t go together."

Fair enough from whelan, why sell your best player on the cheap? I think he should leave wigan though no offence, needs to play for a bigger club, capable of playing for the top 5 and shouldn't really be battling out for relegation.

Agree that Charlie is one of many players here that `shouldn't` be battling relegation, but then, with the next stage of Roberto's plan being put into operation during the coming season, I dare to predict that he won't be.
