Hernan Bernardello A Latics Target

Wigan Athletic are back in the hunt for Almeria midfield man Hernan Bernardello according to the Daily Mirror.

The 24 year old Argentina international has made 61 appearances for the former La Liga side scoring one goal since joining in July 2009.

Almeria were relegated at the end of last season and are desperate to reduce their wage bill, Espanyol, Racing Santander and Deportivo la Coruna are also reportedly interested in Bernardello.

There were reports back in May that the Latics had tabled a £1.5 million bid, but that was apparently rejected, the Mirror claim that Martinez has made an improved offer of £2 million, but Almeria are trying to hold out for closer to £4 million.

Defiantly a good player but personally dont need a midfielder, we already have good depth there and with young Redmond on form he could break in, Watson, McCarthy and Diame seem a good trio and a great midfield to have, but ill welcome enother good midfielder to add to the competition though we dont need it, left back and 2 wingers is needed after Zog leaves, Lafita, Snodgrass would add great competition.

Wigan 1-2 Bradford Match Report

Latics dropped to a deserved 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford, our first loss at home in the league since March. It was an off-day, defence looked shaky from the off and once Nick Powell went off injured, we never really threatened to score. We are back at the DW on Tuesday against Doncaster Rovers, an opportunity to get back on track.

Paul Cook named an unchanged side from our last league game, with Michael Jacobs returning to the starting line-up.
