Third Time Lucky For Villa With N'Zogbia Bid

Aston Villa are set to table their third offer for Wigan Athletic man Charles N'Zogbia after the Latics rejected a £9 million bid earlier this week.

Alex McLeish is desperate to land the France international and it is understood that the clubs have been negotiating over the past couple of days to get the fee thrashed out, though they weren't a million miles apart at the beginning of the week it looks like it will be third time lucky for Villa.

With N'Zogbia leaving there should be a few incomings at the DW Stadium with Latics owner Dave Whelan promising boss Roberto Martinez that he can have the full amount of the fee to fund his transfer targets.

I feel sorry for Wigan fans, you are a bit like us loosing some of your best players. Obviously as a Villa fan I hope the deal goes through, that is assuming Charles wants to come to us. COTVABU

He is too good for Villa but in 12 months time he will probably be considered too good for Villa. Sounds cynical but money talks - would love to see this deal come off though

Knowing us we will go 9.5 million out of spite. Just pay the 10 million they want - its a reasonable fee. We need a player of this calibre so lets get it done.

I don't know what Villa are Haggling for anything under 20 million is a bargain for a player to replace Downing, N'zogbia is as good as Downing if not better just look at his stats and if they are anything to go by N'zogbia is getting Better season by season, so pay up!

We dont need to cough up to Whelan's tune, Wigan are on their arse again and will probably be in a relegation battle from day one. Whelan agreed with the player to let him leave if a bid came in, it came in so now Whelan has to do the right thing instead of being a snake. Now Nzogbia is happy to go on strike to force a move and seen as we are the only club with money on the table Whelan would do well to except the bid and stop making himself look a fool

Chiefly, speaking of fools...you've based all that on what you've read in a newspaper that has made the whole thing up. N'Zogbia has vocally expressed his willingness to stay until next summer if needs be - after all he'd be a free and get a massive contract as a result. What source has the paper stated in their article about N'Zogbia's impending strike or about the fee that Whelan agreed he could leave for? I think you'll find it was all made up. Otherwise wouldnt we have been obligated to sell N'Zogbia in the January window for the 12million+ that Newcastle offered....and wouldnt Charlie have gone on strike when we refused. So for fools, I'd look at home first mate.

Who do some (and it is a minority to be fair) Villa fans think they are???? How has Chiefy come to the conclusion that We are on our arse??? Whelan has never said He would sell him if ANY bid came in at all. To be honest Chiefy do the genuine Villa fans a favour and dont represent them with complete drivel.

Wigan are on their arse..... Wigan are the team that are currently in the best league position compared to their historical average. On their Arse in no way shape or form. Enjoy your second choice Gaffer as he matches Avram and takes 2 clubs down in consecutive years.

Chiefy, all we're saying its our right to sell him for whatever we want or keep him - exactly the same as you guys were saying a week ago for Downing. Many of your fans get this and are saying to pay the extra million. Some think we should somehow put our hands up and surrender. Er, why? And to believe newspapers at this time of the year is simply silly. One story is repeated so many times in so many papers that people believe it, even if it was concocted by some journalist desperate to fill a page late some night down the pub.

Chiefy shut up, we either pay up or we don't get n'zogbia...Why you winding people up? I always use to do it to the spuds when i first joined it will get you nowhere except a reputation for being a dick, trust me ask the spurs fans about 'p.villa' they will know.

Downing had 2 years on his contract, hence we didnt have to sell unless a bid came in reflecting his true worth. Ash was in his final year and went for 16m, with 2 years left he would have fetched 25m!

Stourbridge Villan 2 years on contract or 1, he is their best player, downing was ours, your not going to let best players go on the cheap so dave whelan is the man!!

P.Avfc way of the world mate, you get more for your car with 12 months MOT than you would selling with 1 dont ya? I agree 10m is still fair IMO, but there are issues that we still are'nt sure about, did Whelan move the goalposts, was N'Zogbia promised that he could move if an offer came in circa 9m? Its getting played out in the media without the real facts known, maybe we only have 9m and a few pence!!

N'Zogbia will go to Villa. They will stump up the full 10mil, which is still a bargain for the best winger in the premier league. He will leave Villa within a 2/3 years and they will make a whole lot of money on him as he goes to United/Chelsea/Arsenal. He is world class. And Villa would be lucky to get a player of that quality for so cheap. I cant understand why the fans and even the Villa transfer team are complaining about this extra million. Never will they get a bigger bargain until they sign Messi on a bosman. Good luck Charlie! Thanks for the memories.
