Latics Accept Villa Bid For N'Zogbia

Wigan Athletic have accepted a £9.5 million bid from Aston Villa for France international Charles N'Zogbia.

The Latics previously rejected two offers from Villa for the winger but following discussions over the weekend an agreement has been reached.

It is expected that N'Zogbia will meet with Villa to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical, a five year deal is on the table which, if all goes well, should be signed tomorrow (Tuesday)

Finally on his way

Villa fan here in peace - I know exactly what you mean robin - we've had the same with Barry and Downing....both said they would only leave for a team in the Champions League but then went to teams outside the top4. Barry obviously made the right choice, not sure about Downing. It is disappointing. On the other side of the fence for once, N'Zogbia must see Villa as a bit of a step up as well as seeing his bank balance swell quite a bit in the process. I hope he is as good as we've been hearing. Best of luck & i'm sure you guys will spend it wisely.

Another Villa fan in peace. Although I welcome CN'Z (if he signs) I have no doubt he is only coming for the money and if he has a good couple of seasons will be off to Man *****ty or the like. I hope you use the money wisely and bring through some younger players who want to play for you. Good luck

Agree with yatesy on robins point...Downing, Milner, Barry all left for 'champions league football' but neither liverpool or city had it at the time, barry was getting on and city are now in the champions league so fair enough, Milner is just used to fill in for any injured players and i highly doubt liverpool are going to be in the champions league so it does pee me off when players use that as an excuse to leave. I think at 9.5 is a bargain for us, arguably better than downing at half the price so im a very happy villa fan. You lot knew it was coming though even though some of you were in denial about him coming to VP, best of luck.

To be honest at his age and ability he is a steal. Downing went for more than double that value purely because he was english. Feel a little bit like we have bought a player at far less than the going rate at the moment...

Agree with Astriel this could be the bargain of the summer - especially if we tie him to a reported 5 year deal whereby if after 2-3 years he does push for another move - we will probably be looking at a significant profit. In McLeish we trust! UTV

I think Villa HAVE got a bargain here and who are we going to replace Charles with? I mean, there's less than three weeks until the beginning of the season. I do hope they don't see Moses or Stam as a replacement. They're not bad players but hardly goal scoring machines. If no notable replacements are brought in before the season starts, all I'd say is, don't expect too much in the way of what one might call a decent season by our standards - we can't even move on as we're always selling our best players. Its so frustrating. Nevertheless, I think he'll do well at Villa and if he's only motivated by money, best rid despite what he did for us, I guess. I know we have until the end of August to find a replacement and possibly for Hugo and James at this rate but my goodness me, I see a difficult road ahead for all concerned with Wigan. Sorry to sound negative once more but that's as it is.

Dan's Big Game Report - Burton 0 Latics 2

Alright, so despite the hammyteur Twitter meteorologists' predictions, it never did snow in Burton upon Trent today.

But on Friday morning, the Met Office (presumably a wild new joint venture of the Metro newspaper and the Post Office) issued 'yellow warnings' of ice in Staffordshire. From this we can only assume that the county`s dog walkers embarked upon an unprecedented mass figure skating session producing gold medals you certainly don't want in your hands.

Oh, disregard
