Wigan Athletic Transfer Rumours 31st July 2011
This weeks Wigan Athletic transfer news/gossip has seen one out, none in and quite a bit of speculation. Let's take a look:
Charles N'Zogbia finally completed his move to Aston Villa after the two clubs agreed on a fee of £9.5 million with a reputed 15% sell on clause also part of the deal. Good luck Charlie for your future and thanks for some great memories.
There has been quite a bit of speculation in Scotland that the Latics are lining up three players, David Goodwillie from Dundee United, Motherwell striker Jamie Murphy and Hearts young winger David Templeton, according to the Scottish media we have made bids for all three and all three bids have been rejected.
Blackburn are also chasing Goodwillie, Stoke, Spurs and Wolves have shown interest in Murphy whilst Templeton is under the spot light of a few other clubs.
Chris Kirkland is thought to be the subject of an enquiry from Birmingham City who want the former England international on loan, the Latics would prefer a permanent move for their former number one who's slipped down the rankings at the DW Stadium.
Another player subject of a loan enquiry this week is Ronnie Stam with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven keen to take the attacking fullback, back to the eredivisie.
The Derry City chairman, Philip O'Doherty, announced that the Latics are interested in their flying wide player James McClean, whether this is genuine interest or just a ploy to push through a faltering deal with Championship club Peterborough is debateable.
Robert Snodgrass is still being linked with a move to the DW Stadium in various papers, also the Nelson Valdez and Shaun Wright-Phillips deals aren't as dead as previously thought, watch this space on both of these.
Hugo Rodallega will stay at the Latics says club owner Dave Whelan, he states that talks on a new contract will start as soon as Hugo returns next week.
Ben Watson, Momo Diame and James McCarthy are also deep in talks over new and improved deals, press speculation linking McCarthy away to Liverpool or Arsenal is just that, speculation.
