Latics Confirm Boselli Move

Wigan Athletic have confirmed that striker Mauro Boselli has returned to Argentine club Estudiantes on a season long loan deal.

Boselli joined the Latics last summer in a blaze of glory following his exploits in his home land for Estudiantes and also in the Copa Libertadores where he was leading goal scorer, he came to the UK as the Latics fought off serious competition for his signature from a host of top European clubs and it was a real coup that he was signed by Wigan Athletic.

Unfortunately Boselli never settled in properly, and following just eight Premier League games without scoring he was allowed to leave for serie a club Genoa in January, he spent the next six months in Italy, making seven appearances scoring two goals, but despite speculation linking him with a permanent switch to Genoa a fee couldn't be agreed and he returned to the Latics.

Boselli made public that he wanted to return to Argentina and his former club Estudiantes, so following discussions between Wigan, Boselli`s agent and Estudiantes a loan deal has been agreed.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez sees the move back to Argentina as the best solution and says that he will assess the situation with Boselli next summer.

Speaking to the clubs official website Martinez said: 'Mauro needs to regain his confidence and after what will hopefully be a successful season with his former club, we will reassess the situation this time next year.

'We will be keeping close tabs on his progress and wish him every success for the new season.'
