David Jones Joins Wigan Athletic

Wigan Athletic have signed midfielder David Jones who was a free agent after leaving Premier League rivals Wolves at the end of last season, he spent part of preseason on trial with the Latics and suitably impressed.

Latics media manager Ed Jones released the following press statement:

Wigan Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of former Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder David Jones.

The 26-year-old, who is a free agent after coming to the end of his contract at Molineux, has impressed on trial during the pre-season and featured in the victory at Preston on Sunday.

Manager Roberto Martinez is really happy to have him on board.

He said: "Dave has connected well with the group during pre-season, he has a great attitude towards work and will certainly bring something different to the squad.

"Technically he is very gifted, shows good personality on the pitch and already has solid experience of the Barclays Premier League behind him, with the best years of his career still ahead.

"We`ve been impressed with the levels of his work in training and everyone`s excited to be welcoming him to our club."

Jones began his career breaking through Manchester United`s youth academy in 2003, and spent loan spells at Preston North End, NEC Nijmegen and Derby County before signing permanently for the Rams in 2007, where he played in the Barclays Premier League.

In 2008 he joined Wolves and played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League that season, going on to make 66 league appearances for Mick McCarthy`s side in his three seasons at the club.

He said: "I`m delighted to have sorted out my future. Roberto Martinez is a great manager to work for, and I`ve loved every minute of training so far, I already feel settled here.

"I`d like to thank everyone at Wolves for their support when I was there and to say goodbye to a great set of fans there. But I`m a Wigan player now and I`m really looking forward to the new season and proving to the gaffer he has made a good choice."

Nice one, welcome on board Jonesy

Jones is a money grabbing judus scum bag, he has at least found his level by joining a club with no fans! that can only fill half the ground and a manager/chairman who are all mouth, wind and P, I am sure our Henry will give him the welcome he deserves - w****r, he did SFA for us - good riddence.

Johnwolf seems to be devastated with us getting Jones, as well as this, he brings up the old no fans regime, sad man.

QPR v Latics - Big Game Preview

Another massive game for the Latics, QPR are a team that traditionally we don't do too well against, just two wins in 15 encounters, one of those coming in W12 though so we do have previous there even if it was a while ago.

A win tonight would lift us out of the bottom three and put us just three points behind Aston Villa in 17th, the incentive is there, we need to start taking opportunities are there won't be any more left.

It's likely that Warren Joyce will start with the same si
