Latics Have Odemwingie Bid Rejected

Wigan Athletic have had a bid rejected by West Brom for striker Peter Odemwingie.

A statement on the West Brom official site reads:

ALBION have rejected out of hand an offer from Wigan for striker Peter Odemwingie.

Last season's 15-goal top scorer currently has two years left on his contract and is in advanced talks with the Baggies over an improved deal.

Sporting & Technical Director Dan Ashworth insists the Baggies have no plans to sell Odemwingie, who is in a race to be fit for Sunday's season opener against Manchester United (ko 4pm).

'This summer, we have made it our No.1 priority to keep our core players - like Peter - and strengthen the squad around them as we endeavour to firmly establish this club in the Barclays Premier League,' said Ashworth.

Why would WBA make this public? Plenty of quality players available in the £5m-£10m bracket.

West Brom made it public to generate interest, that asking price would never be met, we will come in with a new offer, if not then we will move on to other targets, the west brom fans need to show some respect as well.

Why should they sell Odemwingie? He is their best striker so far.

If and this is a big IF we sign him, I hope it is to partner Hugo not to replace him....

Latics v QPR - Big Game Preview

An important game at the DW Stadium tomorrow for the Latics, Gary Caldwell will be hoping to banish the disappointment of conceding a 93 minute goal away at Forest last Saturday that saw a point slip away after coming from behind three times in the game.

QPR are in town, they aren't quite the multi-millionaires that they were the last time that we met, that was in the play off semi-final in 2014, but they do have a squad with lots of quality and will certainly pose a threat.
