'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Latics Olympic Link - Holly Bleasedale




Wigan Athletic fan and international athlete, Holly Bleasedale, popped into Vital Latics this week for a quick chat. Holly had literally just stepped off the plane on her return from Daegu where she had been competing in the World Athletics Championships.

The 20 year old pole vaulter didn't have the best of championships to say the least, but she was still in great spirits when we caught up with her, born in Euxton but now living in Abram, Holly is a Latics fan, though disappointingly she doesn't get much opportunity to get to see the lads live at the DW Stadium, this is due to her competing and training every weekend, however she does catch Roberto's boys on the TV and she says Hugo Rodallega is her favourite Latics player.

Holly, although having had a disappointing World Championship, is a genuine medal contender for the 2012 Olympics, she is the British record holder with a jump of 4 metres 70, which is also a world record for her age group.

Vital Wigan are going to follow Holly as she prepares for the Olympic trials, taking in some training sessions and events, we'll be with her all the way to London and hopefully the medal podium
