Franco Di Santo Is The Man

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez says that his in form striker, Franco Di Santo, is ready to fulfil his potential following a great goal scoring start to the current campaign.

With three goals to his name after the first five games the 22 year old Argentine is enjoying a rich vein of form, making the best start to a season of a Latics forward, goalscoring wise, since Amr Zaki burst onto the scene in 2008/09, Di Santo is looking ready to shoot his way up the Premier League strikers chart, Martinez though says it's not just the goals but his all round performances have been good.

The former Chelsea man smashed home the opening goal in Saturdays defeat at Everton and despite not adding any further to his tally, the Latics number 9 had a good game giving the Everton defence plenty to think about.

With Franco's strike partner Hugo Rodallega suffering a knee injury that's likely to keep him out for a few months, the emphasis is now firmly on Di Santo to prove his manager's confidence isn't misplaced, keep the goals coming and we'll all be happy

Speaking to the Latics official website Martinez said: 'Franco has been very consistent since we started the campaign, he is hungry for success and his mentality is superb after a full pre-season behind him.

'This season he is ready to fulfil his potential and we all want him to continue enjoying his football.

'Off the ball he worked hard for his team-mates and when he had it at his feet he was a threat - his goal was the reward for his overall performance and he'll continue to get those rewards if his performances remain consistent."

He might of scored 3 deflected goals but they are his goals, his work rate alone deserves those goals and is a typical number 9, just with much better technical ability!

so, as a Chelsea fan who saw him frustrate me, is he finally coming good?
