'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Martinez Has Faith In Franco Di Santo

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has declared his upmost faith in young Latics striker Franco Di Santo ahead of tomorrows clash with Tottenham Hotspur

With the clubs all time Premier League leading goal scorer, Hugo Rodallega, sidelined for a few weeks with a knee injury, the onus will be on Di Santo to carry on his good early season form and continue finding the back of the net after his best ever goalscoring start to a campaign.

Three goals in his last three games is the type of form that the Latics need from the Argentine and Martinez is confident that his young striker will keep up the good work, speaking to the Wigan Evening Post Martinez said: "Franco's really enjoying his football, his contribution this season has been fantastic, he's a completely new man. He's had a real focus and a real desire to be successful.

"He wants to score goals for us and he wants to play for Argentina, but more than that his overall contribution has been phenomenal.

"There are not many strikers out there who are as strong as him, he can run all day and he can strike the ball with his right or left foot and he`s good in the air.

"He`s still only 22 so now is the perfect time to enjoy his football with us."

"There's a real steely determination there and he knows that if he plays well he'll have a fantastic season and a fantastic career. He can fulfil his potential"
