Referee Takes A Dive!

There have been some players down the years making a living out of their ability to dive, simulate or whatever you want to call it, back in the 1970's Manchester City, Derby County and England striker, Francis Lee couldn't keep his feet in the opposition penalty box and won many a spot kick for his teams, even when there was no one around him!

Jurgen Klinsman the former Spurs and Germany striker really did master the art of 'going down' so much so he incorporated it in his goal celebrations, many other players have also built up a reputation as a bit of a 'diver', we even had our own at the Latics, when Wilson Palacios won a penalty against Man City back in 2009 most of the home crowd had to look away in sheer embarrassment as Wilson did a half pike and triple summersault even though he wasn't clipped pushed, kicked or stomped upon, he'd won it through sheer simulation.

With the speed of today's game though it's difficult for referees, decisions have to be made in split seconds and they do get it wrong some times, but we forgive them, for on the whole the ref's are honest aren't they and simulation, 'diving' is for nasty players...or is it?
