New Loan Signing

Wigan Athletic have signed Villarreal winger Luis Antonio Valencia on loan for a year, with an option of a permanent move at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old Ecuadorian cost Villarreal £1.2 million last year from CD El Nacional.

Jewell said : 'Antonio is something new for Wigan. He has skill in abundance and combines it with electric pace and a high work-rate. He has played in Europe for a season, and I'm convinced he has the attributes to make a success of the Premiership.'

Valencia has 19 caps for his Eucador and played in the 1-0 defeat to England at the World Cup.

Valencia joined Villarreal last year but had a spell on loan with Recreativo Huelva.

green giant did you read the article, its a loan deal dip stick! Something of an un proved quantity, if he adapts quickly to premiership life he could play a large part in wigans season

It would be good to see how much this player cost them on loan? He might have to adapt to playing in the english league because its a different pace anywhere else in the world.
