'Cut Out The Silly Mistakes' Say's Ali Al-Habsi

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi says the Latics need to cut out the silly mistakes as they prepare to get some pride back in the team with Saturdays visit to St. James' Park to face high flying Newcastle United.

Last season two Charles N'Zogbia goals put the Latics 2-0 in front, but Newcastle fought back and snatched an equaliser deep into stoppage time, a draw away at the 4th placed club would do nicely this time round as Al-Habsi and co look to end a run of six straight defeats.

Saturdays defeat to Bolton saw a performance that was littered with mistakes, individual errors that cost dearly, more of the same this weekend and a sound beating will be on the cards, there needs to be more discipline in possession if anything is to be brought back from the North East.

Speaking to the Latics official website Ali spoke candidly about the errors, he said: 'Newcastle are a very good team, and have started this season fantastically well.

'We got a result there last year and we are capable of getting a result there next week - but only if we cut out the silly mistakes.

'We gave three easy, cheap goals away against Bolton, and when you do that you're never going to get anything from a game.

'You can't make any kind of mistakes in this league because you'll get punished. It'll cost you the game.'
