Wigan Athletic - Momo Diame Deal Imminent?

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez is hopeful that the club can agree a new deal with star midfield man Momo Diame, who's current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

With January fast approaching, regulations allow players who are out of contract in the summer to negotiate with 'other' clubs and sign pre-contract agreements, meaning that the Senegal international could leave for nothing come July 2012.

La Liga side Seville have apparently shown interest in Diame so Martinez is desperate to tie his main man down to a new deal and he is hopeful that some news on that front can be announced soon.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post, Martinez said: "Momo (Diame) is in the same boat as Hugo (Rodallega) but we're still talking with his people as well and we are hoping to have things to announce before we get to January."

Forget Hugo, Diame is our best player and its vital for him to be tied down, even if its for just 2 seasons.

we cannot afford to lose Momo in Jan, so I would be grateful if he signs a 1 year extension and leave us at the end of season for good, that would be a win win situation for both party.

He is one of the better performers in a poor team. If he was in a top attacking team he would be awsome. Cant understand the urgency in getting Hugo to sign, he is the most over-rated player in the prem. Replace him in the next window and we stand a chance of staying up, keep him and we go down for sure.
