'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jordi Gomez On Song - Wigan Athletic

Is Wigan Athletic midfield man Jordi Gomez finally finding his Premier League feet?

Since joining the Latics from Espanyol in the summer of 2009 Gomez has flattered to deceive, undoubtedly talented but the pace of Premier League football just seemed too quick for him.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez has always stood by his man and promised that he would come good, well it looks like that promise is bearing fruition, Gomez has now scored 3 goals in his last four games and on Saturday at West Brom he was excellent.

Playing alongside James McCarthy and Momo Diame in a free role in the midfield, Gomez is coming into his own, his passing is crisp, his vision is good and his goals per game record at the moment is phenomenal.

Speaking about Gomez after the West Brom game Martinez said: 'Jordi is a very talented player and it takes real talent to be so cool from the penalty spot'

'We all know it has been difficult for him to settle in, and I hope that the fans are now able to see the real Jordi and appreciate the fact that he can win games for us.

'I thought he was outstanding again, on the ball he controlled the tempo of the game and allowed us to be a real threat"

Are we about to hear a new terrace song at the DW? 'He comes from Barcelona, he's now a Wiganer, Jordi Gomez, whoa whoa ha'...You never know

Jordi keeps his cool to slot home the winner
