Walk4Emma - We Need You To Sign Up

Bolton Wanderers v Wigan Athletic on the 11th February 2012 will be much more than just a Premier League game between two neighbouring clubs, this season the game will be marked by communities coming together to support a 4 year old girl with Neuroblastoma.

Emma Hoolin was diagnosed with the childhood cancer in February this year, to combat the illness and have the best chance of making a full recovery Emma has started treatment in the US, the treatment costs in excess of £211,000, if Emma becomes unwell during her treatment this amount could raise dramatically. From www.emmahoolin.co.uk 'Emma might develop complications, as many children do when they receive the treatment, and may have to spend time in intensive care. We know that this would cost at least $10,000 - for just one night'. The £211k initially needed has been raised, but, following a conversation with Emma's family I understand that this amount has already been exceeded and the cost of her treatment could well spiral to more than £300,000.

It is my intention to ensure that monies will be raised to ease the financial burden of Emma's treatment.

There will be a walk from the DW Stadium to the Reebok stadium prior to the Bolton v Latics game on 11th February, this is the Saturday before the start of half term. The 'walk4emma' is growing rapidly. I am a teacher at Runshaw College in Leyland and students there have responded magnificently, Emma's cousin is a student at St. John Rigby in Wigan, again the students there have responded magnificently.

Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers fans have been signing up to do the walk, people with no interest in football have been signing up, this will be a great event, a carnival. It is vitally important to sign up if you intend to do the walk, you do this by simply sending an email to walk4emma@hotmail.co.uk once all details are confirmed, route, stop off points etc you will be emailed a pack with route card, time to meet and most importantly a sponsorship form.

Please support this wonderful cause and sign up now at walk4emma@hotmail.co.uk
