Lawro Predicts - Man United v Latics

Mark 'Lawro' Lawrenson has done his weekly round of Premier League predictions for the BBC, the Match of the Day pundit is forecasting that the Boxing Day Premier League clash between Manchester United and Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford will end in a home win, let's take a look at his reasons:

Manchester United v Wigan

Wigan have enjoyed two very good results against Chelsea and Liverpool in the past few days - the only problem for them is that they have only picked up two points, when they probably think they could have got more.

Now the Latics have to go to Old Trafford, just to complete an extraordinarily tough sequence of matches, and I cannot see them being out of the bottom three when the festive period is over.

I really fancy Manchester United to win here. I know they picked up a couple more injuries to Phil Jones and Ashley Young against Fulham in midweek, but they have got so much quality in their squad that I think whoever comes in will maintain their form.

It's amazing that the only Premier League points they have dropped in their eight games since that 6-1 derby defeat in October came in a home draw against Newcastle that they deserved to win.

Prediction: 2-0

Call me mad, or intoxicated with Christmas spirit, I feel we are about to get our first ever point against Man United, I am going for a well earned point, 1-1, and a Merry Christmas to all
