Lawro Predicts - Latics v Sunderland

Mark 'Lawro' Lawrenson has done his weekly round of Premier League predictions for the BBC, the Match of the Day pundit is forecasting that Tuesday nights clash between Wigan Athletic and Sunderland at the DW Stadium will end in a draw, let's take a look at his reasons:

Wigan v Sunderland

What a win that was for Sunderland against Manchester City on New Year's Day, to continue Martin O'Neill's good start as Black Cats boss, and he has now picked up 10 points in five games since he took charge.

Sunderland are growing in confidence and O'Neill has got those players playing above themselves. His assistant Steve Walford deserves some recognition for getting them organised defensively too, because that obviously played a large part in their win over City, and he is O'Neill's man on the training ground.

But Wigan deserve credit for their draw against Stoke and I thought it was a clever move by Roberto Martinez to bring Ben Watson on to take the penalty that earned them a point. They will be on a high after that result, and I can see them getting something against the Black Cats too.

Prediction: 1-1

A hard one to call, the O'Neill factor is starting to take account with Sunderland, but I think we will have the edge, 2-1 Latics win for me

This Watson coming on to take the penalty thing. If you watch his interview on player, he says he was already coming on anyway.
