Latics Set To Open New Bangor Ground

Wigan Athletic are sending a representative side to Bangor this weekend to play in a friendly as Welsh Premier League side Bangor City proudly celebrate the opening of their brand new stadium.

The game on Saturday, will have a 2:30pm kick off at the Nantporth Stadium, Bangor chairman, Dilwyn Jones, is understandably thrilled, he told BBC North West Wales: 'It has been 11 years in the making - but we are here, and that is the main thing'

'We're sad to leave the old ground at Farrar Road, but I'm sure you can see the facilities here are just fantastic.

'It's taken a long time and quite a lot of hard work. In particular, the board of directors behind me have worked tirelessly.'

Explaining the picturesque setting of the new ground Jones continued: 'From the pitch side you can see the views of Anglesey - you've got the suspension bridge in the distance too'

'But of course, we are here to see football.'
