Meet The Ref - Spurs v Latics - Lee Probert

Wigan Athletic travel to White Hart Lane on Tuesday evening to face Tottenham Hotspur in an extremely important Premier League clash for both clubs, but for very different reasons. The Latics are desperate for points at the foot of the table, whilst Spurs are aiming to keep in touch with the pace setters at the top. Trying to ensure that there are no shenanigans and keep the game flowing will be Gloucestershire referee, Lee Probert.

The 39 year old official has been in charge of just the one Latics game so far this season, the 3-1 defeat away at Wolves back in early November, during that game there was the infamous Alcaraz spit, which Probert missed, but the cameras didn't, the Latics defender ended up with a retrospective three match ban.

Probert first got interested in refereeing at the tender age of 16, he sat the exam and the rest, as they say, is history. He has now been refing in the Premier League since 2007
