Senegal Loss, Latics Boost, Diame Due Home

Wigan Athletic midfield star Momo Diame looks certain to be returning home from the African Cup of Nations much sooner than expected following the dismal set of results for Senegal in the group stages of this years competition.

Not being pitched in a particularly strong group, it was envisaged that Senegal would progress through to the quarter finals at least, unfortunately for the Lions of Teranga they lost their opening two games, against Zambia and co-hosts Equatorial Guinea and although they still have one group match left to play, they have no chance of making it through to the knockout stage

Senegal will wrap up their tournament on Sunday when they face Libya meaning Diame should be back at the DW in time for next Saturdays encounter with Everton
