Swedish Youngster Impresses In Latics Trial

Wigan Athletic are being linked with highly rated Swedish winger Alieu Darbo who has been impressing whilst on trial at both Sunderland and Newcastle as well as at the Latics.

The 19 year old former Le Mans player is currently a free agent, Martin O`Neill was apparently very impressed during a recent trial in the North East but it would appear that the Latics have made the biggest impression on Darbo

The speedy forward spent a week at the Latics and may have earned himself a shot at the big time, currently training with League 1 side Scunthorpe the youngster told Jakob Celik of the Swedish football site fotbolltransfers.com: "I have decided to go with Wigan

"I have a verbal agreement, Roberto Martinez, the Wigan coach believes in me and it is my dream to play in the Premier League"

It would appear that Darbo has picked up an injury during his trials, he continued: "I have had a problem with my knee so will be returning to Sweden for some treatment"

"When all is sorted it looks like I will spend some time on loan at Scunthorpe to get some games"

"I know I will need to be patient and get regular playing time with Scunthorpe to show what I can do"

Alieu Darbo, the new Henrik Larsson!

The thought of Redmond, Dicko, McMannamn, Darbo and Golobart in the side if we are in the championship next season sounds fresh and exciting if you ask me ;)
