Scott Green - Divided Loyalties - Wigan Athletic

Former Latics and Bolton player Scott Green is torn ahead of the local derby at the Reebok tomorrow (Saturday), he is still mates with both bosses, Roberto Martinez and Owen Coyle, who he has kept in touch with since his playing days, and feels he has divided loyalties.

Greenie played with Coyle at Burnden Park before switching down the A59 to Wigan, joining Martinez and the Latics in our last seasons at Springfield Park and scoring on his debut in a 5-2 win against Wycombe. He was with the Latics from July 1997 until the summer of 2003

The 41 year old was a larger than life character during his playing days and he was a fans favourite at both clubs, speaking to the Bolton News about the game Green said: "I wish Owen and Roberto all the best, of course, but I`ll be leaving them to it on Saturday"

"It`s such a huge game for both clubs, and three points for either of them could be the difference between staying up and going down to the Championship.

"I keep in contact with them both, but they know I've got a foot in the two camps, so I think I'll keep my phone in my pocket for now. It's a touchy one."

"I spent more than three-quarters of my career in Lancashire and have some really great memories, looking at both clubs playing in the Premier League now, I'd like to say I played my part and it would be great to see them both survive."

"You look at both teams and they create chances, plenty of them, they get the ball in the right areas but the problem has been sticking it in the net.

"The likes of Kevin Davies, David Ngog and Hugo Rodallega are top players but you don`t really have anyone in there who are natural goalscorers. It'll come down to who takes their chances on the day."

"I think Bolton will just edge it, if I'm being honest."

Of course Saturday is also the day of the walk4emma event in support of the Emma Hoolin Appeal. If you are going to the game why not join us on the walk and help raise awareness and funds for such a worthwhile cause.
