The Latics Enjoying Omani Hospitality

Wigan Athletic have a prestigious friendly this afternoon when they face the Oman national side at the Seeb Stadium, in doing so the Latics will become the first Premier League club to play in the Gulf state.

Having been in Oman for the past two days, acclimatising and taking part in some warm weather training the Latics squad are loving the chance to 'get away' for a few days, but the trip isn't just about building ties with Oman it's also getting the squad geared up for the run-in and hopefully going some way to help in maintaining the clubs Premier League status come the end of the season.

Speaking to the Latics official website club skipper Gary Caldwell spoke about the 'fantastic welcome' and 'brilliant facilities' but he also reiterated that the trip was also about putting in some hard work abd getting prepared for the demanding games ahead.

Caldwell said: 'The welcome we have received has been fantastic, and the facilities are brilliant for the team. It's exactly what we needed and will give us all a big lift, just when we need to build on the Bolton result.

'We really couldn't have asked for more. But we're also here to do a job of work and we have trained hard in preparation not just for this match, but for the really demanding games coming up in the Premier League and we'll be approaching the match like any other.'
