Lee Nicholls Joins Accrington On Loan

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Lee Nicholls has joined League 2 club Accrington Stanley on loan until the end of the current season, with a recall option.

Accrington are now managed by ex-Latic midfield man Paul Cook, who`s only been in charge at the Crown Ground for a fortnight, but he`s wasted no time on calling on a favour from Wigan and recruited one of the best young English goalkeepers around at the moment>

Nicholls recently signed a two year extension on his contract at the Latics and the 19 year old England Under 20 international will greatly benefit from gaining some first team experience.

Speaking to the Latics official website Nicholls said on his move: 'It's what I need at this stage of my career, to be getting first team experience in a competition league.

'Hopefully I can get plenty of games under my belt and when I return be in a better position to push for a place closer to the starting eleven with Wigan Athletic.

'It's a massive step up from Reserve Team football, everything needs to be given extra concentration and effort, which I'm really looking forward to.'

Video Highlights - Wigan Athletic 0 Nottingham Forest 0

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
