Lawro Predicts - Liverpool v Latics

Mark 'Lawro' Lawrenson has done his weekly round of Premier League predictions for the BBC, the Match of the Day pundit is forecasting that Saturday's clash between Liverpool and Wigan Athletic at Anfield will end in a home win, let's take a look at his reasons:

Liverpool v Wigan

Liverpool's capitulation in the last 15 minutes of their 3-2 defeat by QPR on Wednesday was astonishing, as was the number of chances they had created before then.

Before it all fell apart, I doubt whether Liverpool had played better than that this season, which makes it even harder to take when you are 2-0 up but end up losing 3-2.

Even so, I am sure Reds boss Kenny Dalglish will look at what happened as a one-off and you don't get many easier opportunities to bounce back from that sort of setback than playing Wigan at home.

The Latics cannot score goals, and my biggest problem with them is that they could and probably should have won both of their last two games, away against Norwich and then at home to West Bromwich Albion. Instead, they have only picked up two points.

If you only get two points when you are playing well, then what does that suggest will happen if you don't play well? I'd have to go for a comfortable Liverpool victory here.

Prediction: 2-0

I see this game ending in yet another 1-1 draw for the Latics, I agree in a sense with Lawro about us playing well an not being able to win, very frustrating and the way we have played this season suggests that we are too good to go down, but not good enough to stay up, if you see what I mean?

We’re predicting a 1-0 home victory over at Vital Liverpool: "Wigan will be desperate for points in their fight against relegation and Martinez's side have been playing some good football of late but without achieving the results they perhaps deserved. Something that we can certainly relate to..." Click here to read the full Vital Liverpool Preview.

Video Highlights - Wigan Athletic 0 Nottingham Forest 0

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
