What The Boss Said - Liverpool 1-2 Latics

A great win at Liverpool but most importantly three precious points in our fight to stay in the Premier League, a good performance from all the team, and a fully deserved victory

After the game a clearly delighted Latics boss Roberto Martinez spoke about the win, let`s see what he had to say:'We have been very consistent recently and clearly we've been very unlucky but, today we got that element of luck that we deserved.

'It is a historic day and a historic performance at such an important moment of the season.

'Overall we showed the image of Wigan Athletic very well and today I am proud to give this moment to the fans.'

'It is a fitting moment for Gary to score because he is a true captain and a real leader.

'For the rest of our history we are going to have Gary Caldwell scoring a winner at Anfield and he fully deserves that.

'He found composure in the box and took his goal really well.'

'Nobody can argue about how well we stopped Liverpool from playing.

'I am extremely proud of every one of my players and of the manner that we won the game.

'Liverpool were in the ascendency playing with a lot of attacking players, they got a goal but, we responded really well and got a deserved winner.

'It has been a difficult season for everyone and moments like today make everything worth it.'

'We have got three important points but, we have to go to the next game and Stoke will be a crucial game.

'We need to use the power of the fans at home and hopefully they will bring the memories from Anfield along to the game next week.

'We can kick on now and get enough points to stay in the Barclays Premier League for another year.'
