Wigan Athletic play Stoke City tomorrow in what is a vitally important game in our battle to avoid the drop, for the last home game against West Brom a group of Latics fans got down to the DW early in order to welcome the players and give them some unequivocal support, hoping that this would inspire them to put in a top performance, well it worked.
The early turn out for the West Brom game is going to be repeated tomorrow, if you are willing to give just 20 minutes of your time to give the players a massive buzz then please get yourself down to the corner of the East and South stands for 12:45pm tomorrow (Saturday), we are in this together, it does make a difference, please come and join in.
Below are some comments from the players and staff following the last meet and greet:
Gary Caldwell: 'The welcome from the fans before the West Brom game was massive and all the players commented on it beforehand.
'We felt the support from the fans and you need that as a player when you're in the position we're in.
'It can be too easily to let your head drop and allow negative thoughts to affect your performance, but when you see the fans come out like that and show what it means to them it gives you a big boost.
'Now's the time to stand up and be counted for and to be fair I think each one of us and everyone at the football club is doing that.'
Ali Al-Habsi: 'The fans make such a difference and once again they were amazing, but we need them again against Stoke on Saturday.'
Dave Whelan: 'We need all our supporters and the whole town behind us now. I would urge everyone to come and get behind the lads this weekend when we play Stoke City at the DW Stadium.'
Emmerson Boyce: 'It was great to see the fans welcoming us in to the stadium at the start of the day and they carried that feeling over into the game.'
We'll leave the last word to the boss, Roberto Martinez: 'It was a great feeling to feel the warmth from the fans, hours before kick-off.
'It was a special touch, something we didn't expect, that I feel galvanised our performance from the first minute.
'That feeling allowed us to relax, to focus on the performance and it really showed on the pitch.
'The truth is the fans were the ones who instigated the level of performance against West Brom, and we were a football club to be very proud of.
'That fills me with real joy and excitement for the rest of the season.'
