Wigan Athletic See Home Attendance Increase

Wigan Athletic may be sitting in the bottom three of the Premier League with just seven games of the season remaining, they may have won only two home games all season, the first in August the second just last Saturday, they may also be the pundits hot tip for relegation, but the Latics faithful are backing their club in droves

With a team seemingly struggling on the pitch you'd expect the home gates to crash, you'd expect attendances and support to plummet, but no, Wiganers are most definitely not a fickle bunch and are fully behind Roberto Martinez and his side, the Latics faithful know how to support their heroes and they know that when they are down that's when the support is most needed

Attendances at the DW Stadium this season have seen a dramatic rise, on average almost two thousand more spectators per game are pouring through the gates than this time last season. Yes that's right almost 12.5% up on this stage a year ago.

A 12.5% increase despite the town suffering more than most areas with the current economic climate, a 12.5% increase despite the team being in the bottom three for most of the season, a 12.5% increase despite recording just one home win in seven months, who say's Latics fans aren't the best supporters in the land?

At this stage last season 16 home games had seen an average of 16,359, this time round that figure as risen to an average of 18,233. Simply brilliant

Couple this with the recent 'Meet and Greet' events and it shows that Latics fans are loyal and are there to support the team through thick and thin, we are definitely the 12th man and the supporters at the DW Stadium will have a massive say in how this season unfolds over the next few weeks

The future's bright, the future's blue, the future's Wigan Athletic
