'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fear? None At All - Sin Miedo - Wigan Athletic

What a top, top performance and result, to have outplayed a team that are sitting top of the Premier League having won their previous eight games when we had so much pressure on us is simply brilliant.

Whatever Martinez does to get into the psyche of his players works, his team plays without fear and they have a fervent belief in themselves and what they are doing. An extraordinary display of football from the Latics had United chasing shadows in the first half, a wrongfully disallowed goal faded into the memory when Shaun Maloney's beautiful curling strike nestled into the back of the net on 50 minutes. The experience gained from last Saturday at Chelsea then came into play, no chasing more goals, just good possession football, holding lines and tenaciously pressing the opposition, keeping what we had

When the final whistle sounded there was the loudest roar ever heard at the DW Stadium, but it wasn't relief that we had finally broken our Man U hoodoo, it was in recognition of an almost perfect display of football from the Premier Leagues so called minnows

In the style of a famous Norwegian commentator back in the 1970's after Norway had given England a tonking for the first time: 'Bobby Charlton, Matt Busby, Georgie Best, Eamonn Holmes, Angus Deyton, Rod Stewart, David Beckham, Eric Cantona, the Sikh's at the back of the dugout, Mick Hucknall, John Simm and the Eastbourne Reds, we gave your boys one hell of a beating tonight!'
