Player Ratings - Latics 1-0 Manchester United

A great performance and result by the Latics last night as they beat would be Champions Manchester United 1-0 at the DW Stadium, Vital Wigan member Jonathan Moffatt, aka J_MO has kindly supplied us with his player ratings:

Al Habsi - 7
Had surprisingly little to do, but did his job well when called upon.

Boyce - 7
Not as effective going forward, but solid as usual at the back.

Alcaraz - 7
Has definitely improved in recent weeks after going off the boil earlier in the season.

Caldwell - 8
Captain leading by example. Made Rooney invisible for most of the game.

Figueroa - 6
Decent performance overall, but his panicky moment when he handballed in the second half could have been very costly.

Beausejour - 8
What a difference this man his made. His crosses caused problems for Man Utd all night.

McArthur - 8
Possibly his best game in a Latics shirt. Ran himself into the ground.

McCarthy - 7
Another players who has massively improved after some poor performances earlier in the season. Great understanding with McArthur in the middle of the park.

Moses - 8
His first half goal should have stood, but it didn't slow him down. A real handful all game - no small feat when you're up against Patrice Evra.

Di Santo - 8
A lot of his work went relatively unnoticed, but defending from the front is a lot easier with someone as willing as Franco as striker.

Maloney - 9
Simply outstanding and scored an excellent winning goal. He may have only played nine games this season, but surely he's a serious contender for the Player of the Year award?

Subs:

Diame - 7

Provided some much needed relief when Man Utd were on the ascendency.

Sammon - 7
I've been critical of him this season but did an excellent job last night. Put pressure on the United defence when they were pushing forward for an equaliser.
